Interchange 8 and I-287/I-87 Reconstruction
CTE provided construction inspection services for the complete reconstruction of Interchange 8 and I-287/I-87 from the Tappan Zee Bridge Toll Plaza to the Saw Mill River Parkway. One of the largest projects ever let by the New York State Thruway Authority, this $200 million project reconstructed portions of I-87/I-287 in Westchester County, including a multi-lane interchange between the two expressways, an interchange with a major state route, the toll plaza for the Tappan Zee Bridge, and auxiliary lanes between the Tappan Zee Bridge and the interchange through an environmentally sensitive wetland area. The project work included new roadways and bridges, extensive rock blasting, retaining wall and noise barrier construction, drainage improvements, utility relocations, VMS and ITS installations, complex MPT and community outreach programs.
